Maximum Dimensions
The legal gross weight of trailer, cab and cargo cannot exceed 80,000#’s. Typical tractor and trailer weight are 32,000#’s leaving roughly 48,000#’s for your total legal load weight.
The legal height and width restrictions requires the load not to exceed 102” tall and/or wide.
The length restriction is variable state-to-state based on permit requirements, but general rule of thumb is 48-53’. For instance, the state of Missouri allows for 4’ of over-hang off the back of the trailer.
Any load that falls outside of these restrictions are deemed over-dimensional and obtaining permits is required. Permitting requirements and cost vary state-to-state.
